Black Music Canteen is run by former BBC Radio 1 & BBC Radio 1Xtra Executive Producer Ruby Mulraine. Ruby has spent a 20 year career producing multi-platform content for iconic youth media brands; Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra.
In 2002 Ruby was launch producer of BBC Radio 1Xtra helping to lay the blueprint for UK digital radio. Her work in black music has taken her to Japan, New York, Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya and Trinidad. She has also worked in the Film and TV industry on documentary and drama productions.
Ruby is a respected entertainment industry judge, having advised across the Radio Academy, Mobo and Brit Awards. She has consulted for the British Council, UKTI and the PRS for Music Foundation and is a board member of Diaspora championing BAME equality within the music industry.
